Building a hypercar like the Koenigsegg Jesko isn’t something most people can afford, especially with its staggering price tag of $3 million. However, the adventurous team at the NHẾT TV YouTube channel decided to tackle the challenge of creating their own version of this supercar. Over the span of a year, they documented the project in a one-hour video filmed in Vietnam.
Starting with a basic frame, the team crafted the Jesko’s body using clay, similar to how big automakers design their vehicles. They made individual fiberglass panels, which were assembled to create a complete body shell. Meanwhile, they built a steel chassis from scratch, producing everything needed, like suspension arms and mounts. Instead of a fancy testing facility, they performed a drop test from 10 feet using a wrecker, showcasing their resourcefulness.
For the engine, they sourced a 1990s Toyota Camry, spending just $100 on a partially wrecked model. Although the Camry’s engine lacks the 1,600 horsepower of a real Jesko, it does give the project a three-pedal manual transmission. Interestingly, the brakes are mounted at the rear, causing the car to slide unexpectedly when stopping, an oddity inherited from its Toyota parts.
The finishing touches involved more fiberglass work for features like a spoiler and interior elements. Although it wouldn’t win any comfort awards and lacks amenities like air conditioning or front brakes, the design highlights give the car a striking look. Despite its limitations, the team proved that creativity and hard work can produce impressive results in car building.
