2027 Lexus LFR: What You Need to Know!

Toyota is busy developing a new race car called the GR GT3, first revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2022. Excitingly, the company plans to make a street version of this car, likely named the Lexus LFR, to be released in the U.S. soon after the race version debuts in early 2026. This new model will be a successor to the popular Lexus LFA.

The Lexus LFR is expected to have a sleek, aggressive design inspired by the GR GT3. Spy videos and patent images suggest it will feature a long body, a prominent hood vent, and aggressive styling cues, reminiscent of some high-performance cars. Although the race version has a massive rear wing, the road car will look a bit toned down for everyday driving.

As for what’s under the hood, there’s speculation about it using a powerful V-8 engine, similar to the one in the Lexus RC F GT3, which produces over 500 horsepower. However, other models could also offer smaller engines or hybrid options for those not seeking high performance.

Toyota Racing President David Wilson hinted that the GR GT3 could debut at the Daytona 24 Hours in January 2026, while the Lexus LFR might hit the market around mid-to-late 2025. Pricing will be interesting, with initial estimates suggesting it could be pricier than current models, but likely lower than the extreme price tag of the original LFA.
